Palazzo Langosco (UK)
Period: Reconstructed in 1776 on the pre-existing structure that dates back to the fifteenth century, it used to be the seat of the Monferrato “Senate”
Project: It was built to a design by Giovanni Battista Borra
Present Use: The palazzo takes its name from Teofilo Langosco who donated it to the Municipality of Casale Monferrato in 1873. It has housed the Civic Library since 1970: the library today retains about 350,000 volumes
Façade: It was built initially in two halves which were joined by the external façade in Via Corte d’Apello street
The Interior: The staircase with two flights is an imposing feature as is the entrance hall with a vaulted ceiling with very high arches. Of note is the elegant salon decorated with stucco modeled by skilled workmen from Ticino on designs by Lorenzo Marini
