Period: Belonging to the Confraternity of Mercy, it was erected in 1611, finished in 1618 and consecrated the following year
Present Use: It is used as an exhibition centre for works of art, sculpture, graphics, designs, watercolours, engravings, prints and such like
Project: Designed by Francesco Maria Richino (Milan 1584-1638)
Façade: The main work on the façade, of which the statue of the Madonna, was executed by the plaster artist Giovanni Battista Viscardo and completed in 1617. The façade is embellished with stucco decorations, niches with statues and pilasters with capitals ornate with garlands of fruit and drapes
The Interior: The construction was completed at the beginning of the eighteenth century with the decorations done by Giovanni Battista Gallo from Lugano. Statues of Saints made of stucco are placed in the niches on the sides. The altarpiece of Our Lady of Succour and the lateral canvas depicting the Earthly Triad are attributed to Giacomo Parravicino (Cassano 1660 – Milan 1729): the painting of Saint Anthony of Padova is by Francesco Fabbrica (documented from 1711 to 1717)
